In this workshop, kids sample the sights and sounds of Black Wall Street, the historic hub of African American financial activity in Durham, North Carolina during the late 1800s and early 1900s.

During a time period when disenfranchising blacks and openly violating their rights was common, the black populations of Durham were making strides in business that would question the legitimacy of white supremacy, all on Parrish Street in Downtown Durham.
Take a walk down Black Wall Street with Pierce Freelon, collect sounds, and make some music out of it at Blackspace - Durham’s Afrofuturism digital makerspace.

** This session is free and open to the public as part of Moogfest’s STEAM program. A festival ticket is not required.

This workshop is limited in capacity and offered on a first come, first served basis. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start time. Entrance is not guaranteed.
