The Aloft Hotel Musical Playground

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Aloft Hotel Musical Playground is an immersive installation incorporating analog and digital instruments. Anyone can play, loop, record, and share their music.
Housed in a 24-foot geodesic dome, the Musical Playground will consist of several instruments by Critter and Guitari, as well as a host of sequencers, theremins, synthesizers, and pedals. The instruments are arranged in a circular configuration on a series of sculptural pedestals to prompt collaboration. All instruments are simultaneously powerful, playful, and intuitive. Speakers play back sounds for those in the tent. Attendees are able to build layers of sound, pass sounds from one another, play with resonance, invent new musical games, alter playback speed, and explore new harmonies. In the Musical Playground, the possibilities are endless.
