Gary Numan (3 Night Residency)

Gary Numan hails from Hammersmith in West London. After joining the punk group Lasers, he formed a new wave band, Tubeway Army, with drummer Bob Simmonds. In 1979, Tubeway Army scored an epochal Moog synthesizer-based UK No.1 hit, “Are ‘Friends’ Electric.” Following this, Numan began working as a solo artist under his own name. Under this name, Numan released his biggest U.S. hit, “Cars,” and classic albums such as 1979’s The Pleasure Principle and 1980’s Telekon. “Are ‘friends’ Electric” and “Cars” are among the iconic Moog concoctions. And as well as anyone in the Moog canon, Numan has, somewhat paradoxically, illuminated the ways Man’s melee with Machine exacerbates the problems human life, creating vibrant electronic music that offers a glimpse at how quirk can redeem the tragic.

Gary Numan will be playing three of his classic albums – ReplicasThe Pleasure Principle, and Telekon – over three nights.
