Kyle McDonald created People Staring at Computers, a Tumblr Blog and art project, in June of 2011. McDonald installed an application to take pictures of Apple Store customers in the West 14 Street and SoHo Street Apple Stores in Manhattan. McDonald would also take video of the customer’s reactions once the picture was taken. The project was complete after three days and in total collected over a thousand photographs of Apple Store customers. Titled People Staring at Computers, the project was exhibited on July 3rd, 2011. The exhibition was displayed both online on Tumblr and at the two Apple Stores. It lasted one minute and attracted 105,000 online views.
