Wanona Satcher
Wanona Satcher is the CEO/Founder of ReJuve and Neighborhood Development
Specialist for the City of Durham, North Carolina. Over the course of her career she’s
served as an urban designer, landscape architect designer, city planner and economic
developer. Wanona combines landscape architecture, resiliency planning, systems
design, community engagement, and innovative economic models to facilitate urban
revitalization programs.
Prior to this, Satcher served various consultant roles for the City of Durham. She led
grant writing, research, and technical assistance with livability initiatives and helped
revitalize the city through transportation planning, economic development, and urban
design. At CDDG, her first startup, she consulted with municipalities on community and
economic development and helped translate her findings into policies that could be
adopted by local government.
Satcher was a 2013 finalist for the Mayor Bloomberg Innovation National Challenge and
was included in the Next City Vanguard’s Top 40 Under 40 program. She’s participated
with the Aspen Institute and has been featured in GOOD Magazine and the Huffington
Post. She’s the first African American to have received dual masters degrees in
community planning and landscape architecture from Auburn University.
